Hi, I'm Desiree.

I created Rising Reader because every child deserves to feel capable when they open a book. With a background in Early Childhood Education (Birth Through Kindergarten) and a deep love for literacy, I work one-on-one with children ages 4–6 to build the foundational skills — letter recognition, phonics, early reading, comprehension — that turn hesitation into confidence.

I work with children ages 4–6 — typically pre-K through the end of kindergarten. This is such a magical window for building literacy skills, and I love meeting kids right where they are in that journey.
Sessions can take place in-home or virtually — whatever works best for your family. I find that kids do wonderfully in both settings, and I bring all the materials either way.
Each session is typically 30–45 minutes, depending on your child's age and attention span. I keep things dynamic and engaging so the time flies — for both of us!
Most families see noticeable progress within the first few weeks — improved letter recognition, growing phonics skills, and most importantly, a shift in confidence. Your child will start to see themselves as a reader.
